Staff Room Design
Ridgeway School in Farnham have engaged Fusion Classroom Design to revamp the staff room. The large space lacked a clear design theme and used furniture that was reminiscent of regular office and reception spaces. The brief for the new staff room design was to create a relaxing space with practical finishes. Using distressed finishes on walls and furniture gives the space a lived-in feel that is modern but inviting. Darker, warm, tones are offset by very large rooflights. the overall balance of colour and tone makes for a 20 minute break that can beat daily stresses and strains.
The new staff room design scheme uses some offbeat finishes on a feature wall and a digitally printed bookcase wallpaper on pivot doors leading to a small utility space for teachers. New flooring adds a warm wood-plank colour tone with a neutral tone on the walls. Feature carpet areas are set into the wood plank floor creating two large rug style areas to emphasise the lounging zones. Large rooflights maximise the natural light.
A login area is partially screened using freestanding shelving units. These also double as noticeboards. By shielding the computers the staff room maintains its relaxed design intent, whilst keeping the practicality to use a computer, rather than letting the hardware dominate the room.
Staff Room Furniture
Furniture is a mix of soft lounge seating in a colour palette of comforting autumn tones. Furniture colours are a mix of 3 fabrics. The patterned material balances with the plainer brown colours, all of which tone in to the carpet-tile rugs. Dinning furniture has a distressed finish on chairs and tables. Tall bookcases screen off a touchdown cluster. These bookcases also support custom-made pinboards using a natural material pinnable surface.
Fusion carried out all the work to refurbish the staff room, supplied the furniture and custom pinboards.
