Teacher walls for St Georges.
Two school Teacher walls have been installed during half-term for St Georges school in Bromley. The beech wood-grain teacherwall furniture has hinged whiteboard doors set either side of their existing interactive screens which have been set into the new teacher wall design.
One classroom has a large linear teacherwall spanning almost 6 metres whilst the second classroom has an L-shape teacherwall. The L-shape teacherwall cabinets have cable routes to allow cables connecting the teachers desk to the flat screen. Removable panels are set into the backs of the teachingwall for cable access should a new cable need to be added.
L-Shaped Teacherwall
L-shaped teacher walls are unusual as most classrooms have linear configurations. The classroom at St Georges Bromley has a prominent chimney breast that meant the storage and whiteboard space needed the teacherwall to turn the corner. Fusion configured the teaching wall to create a well finished turn and continuity for the whiteboards, and a space saving layout makes good use of the corner location.
Fusion worked alongside school site staff and electrical teams to install the teacherwalls and reinstall existing smart screens all in one day over February half-term. Socket cut-outs are located in the back panel behind the screen for power and AV sockets. Dress panels are cut around existing pipes making for a very neat and tidy finish that is clutter-free.
These two teacherwalls also have shelf space above the smart screen. Most teacher walls leave this area unused but for St Georges we added the open shelf to make best use of the available space. The whiteboard doors set either side of the screen give plenty of writing surface and are double-sided so that the backs of the doors can be used as well when opened.
As with all our hinged-door teaching walls the two teaching walls in this school in Bromley have double-sided whiteboards. Teaching staff have given great feedback saying that having the inside of the doors as dry-wipe surface is a benefit in adding to the whiteboard area, and giving teachers the ability to use the double-sided doors in all sorts of ways. A good example is to put quiz questions on the outside, then open the doors 180 degrees to reveal answers already written before a lesson starts.
